The Most Spoiling Spoiler EVER! (Catching Fire)

My class had to do a Book report on any book we like and write and 5 paragraph summary about it. My book was Catching Fire. BUT I MUST WARN YOU: This spoils the whole book so if you don't want any spoilers DO NOT READ!

Ok here it is it's longgggggg though!

Summary

The book I read was Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. The characters include Katniss, Peeta, Gale, Prim, Katniss’ mother, Haymitch, President Snow, Cinna, Finnick, Johanna, Mags, Plutarch Heavensbee, Wiress, and Beetee. The setting is Panem, which is a country that rose out of the ruins of America long ago with thirteen districts, but the Capitol destroyed the thirteenth one. The introduction is when Katniss and Peeta return home from the games as victors. Katniss is reunited with her best friend Gale who is now working in the mines but President snow visits Katniss and tells her that he will kill Gale if she doesn’t convince him she is in love with Peeta on the victory tour. Soon Peeta and Katniss’ prep teams come to get them ready for the tour.
The rising action in this story starts when they are on the tour. The first District they go to is District 11. In the last book, Katniss’ ally was from this District and when they visited them for the tour Katniss gave a long speech about her. Then, and old man whistles and the whole crowd gives Katniss a three-finger salute. When their speeches are over, Katniss stays behind and secretly witnesses the old man being shot in the head. Instantly rebellion against the Capitol has started. After going to ten other districts Peeta and Katniss go to the Capitol. There, Peeta proposes to Katniss and Katniss says yes for the crowd. While they were there President Snow told her that it wasn’t enough. After the tour is over Peeta and her go back to District 12. Soon everything had changed there. They had new, strict peacekeepers and Gale was whipped.  Everything changed. Katniss and Gale couldn’t even hunt anymore. Then the worst thing possible happened. President Snow announced the Quarter Quell (the 75th Hunger Games). President Snow says that two victors (a girl and a boy) from each district and that means that Katniss must go once again to the games. AT the reaping Katniss and Haymitch are called, but Peeta volunteers. At that moment, Katniss swore she would try to keep Peeta alive, even if it means her death. They go on a train to the Capitol to get ready for the opening ceremony. Cinna dresses up Katniss and Peeta in a costume that looks like burning coal. They stole the show and next they had to train for the Games. There they had a private session to impress the Gamemakers with what they could do with weapons. Katniss hung a mannequin and wrote Seneca Crane (the head Gamemaker who was executed last year) on it. Surprisingly both Peeta and Katniss got a score of twelve (the highest you can possibly get). Finally they had to have an interview. President Snow made Katniss where her wedding dress. But, Cinna didn’t like that and told her to twirl during the interview. When she does this, her dress turns into a mocking jay dress. Finally there is Peeta’s interview where he announces he and Katniss are married and Katniss is having a baby (even though neither of those are true).Katniss is shocked he said this but goes along with it.  Now, it’s time to get ready for the games.
The climax starts when Katniss is getting ready to enter the arena. She is all dressed and in her pod to take her up to the arena but then sees Cinna being beaten to death right in front of her eyes. After he is taken away, Katniss is sent up into the arena. The arena was half water, half rainforest, and the cornucopia was is the center. She soon gets the allies Finnick, Peeta, Mags, Johanna, Wiress, and Beetee. In all the action Peeta almost dies three times but Mags and a morphling die for him and Finnick saves him. Katniss gets suspicious about why they are doing this for Peeta. Wiress goes crazy and starts saying “Tick tock” continuously. Katniss figures out it means the arena is a clock and every hour something bad happens. There is poison mist, giant waves, evil monkeys, jabberjays, and lightning. Don’t forget there’s a big force field around the arena that will cook you to death if you touch it. But luckily sponsers (or so they think) keep sending them twenty-four little breads from District 3. Later on Katniss blacks out and can feel Johanna cutting her arm. She thinks Johanna is going to kill her. Then, she goes back to find Finnick and Peeta. She gets a knife and throws it through the force field.
The falling action starts when the Hunger Games ends. After Katniss threw that knife hovercrafts started appearing and taking up the tributes even though there wasn’t any victor. Katniss wakes up in the room for treating the tributes with Beetee in the same one. She tries to look for Peeta but instead sees Haymitch, Plutarch Heavensbee, and Finnick in a room talking. Haymitch explains to Katniss that Plutarch Heavensbee is part of a group to overthrow the Capitol. He also tells her that they were headed to District 13 and Johanna was cutting her arm to take the tracker out that the workers put in her arm earlier. Heavensbee then explains that the bread was a sign what time he would retrieve the tributes from the arena and take them to the ruins of District 13 and he told her that people were saving her and Peeta because she’s the mocking jay. She is the one they must keep alive to start a revolution. They must keep Peeta alive because Katniss wouldn’t be happy without him.
The conclusion begins when Katniss asks where Peeta is. Haymitch said he was retrieved from the capitol. Katniss scratches Haymitch out of anger. She runs from the room and falls asleep. When she wakes up she sees Gale above her. The book finally ends when Gale whispers to her, “Katniss, there is no District 12.

My Favorite Part

My favorite part was the very end where Gale tells Katniss that District 12 no longer exist. He tells her because he loves her, he is her best friend.  I like this part because it leaves you wanting more. It makes you want to read the next book, Mocking Jay, more than you ever wanted to before. This part leaves you thinking and it ends it perfectly.

“Katniss,” Gale says softly.
I recognize that voice. It’s the same one he uses to approach wounded animals before he delivers a deathblow. I instinctively raise my hand to block his words but he catches it and holds on tightly.
But Gale is not one to keep secrets from me.
“Katniss, there is no District Twelve.”

What I thought of the Book

Personally, I think this book was a great extension of the first one, Hunger Games.  I would recommend it to all the people who like the first book but not ones who have never read The Hunger Games. It held my interest and I am very excited to read the third, Mocking Jay. I enjoyed it because of all the action and romance but most of all, I love all the parts that weren’t expected and make you go, “OH MY GOSH!”  If I were to rate it out of six stars I would give it all six.

★★★★★★ (6/6)

Divergent *Book*

Sixteen year-old Beatrice is about to make the biggest choice of her life.  When you turn sixteen you get to choose a fraction.  Each fraction values a certain vertue that they believe saveds them.  Amity values kindness.  Candor values honesty.  Erudite values knowlege.  Aberation values selflessness.  Dauntless values courage.  But when she takes her aptitude test she is in for a big surprise. Beatrice is Divergent.  Being Divergent changes everything.  She can belong in four of the factions instead of one.  She must choose between her family (Aberation) and who she thinks she is (Dauntless).  This choice will change her life.  What is she chooses Dauntless? She might change her name to Tris, or get tatoos?  She might even find the love of her life!  Maybe she gets all three!  But what if she stays in Aberation?  She knows she would be safer there.  Would she rather be an empty shell of herself (factionless) or die?  Read to find out what happens when things take a dangerous turn.

I LOVE this book. I think Veronica Roth brought all of events in a great book to her story. I was constantly staying up until 3:00 in the morning just to see what happens!  I was almost crying (okay, maybe I was) by the time i got to the last page.  Overall I think Veronica did a great job, and I can't wait for Insurgent (book #2) to come out.

I RATE THIS: ★★★★★★ (6/6)

Mockingjay! *BOOK*

In this third and final installment of The Hunger Games trilogy Katniss must deal with the aftermath of her actions, and those of some rebellious friends, at the Quarter Quell. As she recovers from her injuries she cannot help but wonder about Peeta, who was not rescued from the arena. Her worries are founded when Peeta appears in a Capitol broadcast in which he appears to be on the side of the Capitol. As Katniss struggles to find her place in this rebellion she is asked to be the symbol or Mockingjay for the entire fight for freedom. Does she have the strength to be the Mockingjay? If she becomes the mockingjay will it endanger her friends and family? Will she ever see Peeta again?

This final installment accurately portrays the difficulty of starting and carrying out an overthrow of government. Circumstances continue to get worse and with every person lost in the fight Katniss feels responsible. The action and suspense are good, but maybe not quite as good as the arena action and suspense. The character development is wonderful and amazing considering the extreme pressure these characters are under. It would be hard to to portray them as truly human as Collins did. Readers should be satisfied with the ending, especially after some reflection. A nice ending to an unforgettable series. Highly recommended. I have to admit, this was a very touching book, and I enjoyed it. The only problem, which was minor, was that I faced lots of confusion is this book. I didn't grasp what Suzanne Collins was saying, and in the end, my friend had to tell me what happened in the story. I didn't get how Prim died (which I figured out from friend) and I didn't get many part in the beginning. I don't think that was Suzanne's fault, so that's not going against the stars.
I RATE THIS:★★★★★★(6/6)

Crossed (Ally Condie) *BOOK*

In this sequel to Matched, Cassia is trying to find Ky by getting herself sent to the outer provinces as an aberration. Of course, she is an actual citizen, but is willing to jeopardize her citizenship status for true love. Ky has been fighting the attack on the Society for some time and has seen many people die around him. One day he decides to run for his freedom and takes two friends with him. Cassia arrives at the outer provinces to discover that Ky is gone or possibly dead, but she never loses hope. Instead, she tries to follow where she believes he might have gone in the hopes of finding him and the rebel organization fighting the Society. The journey is very difficult and some of the lies she was told by the Society threaten her life out in the wild. Can Ky and Cassie find each other against all odds? If they do find each other will they be able to rekindle the spark they once had or will their future goals pull them apart?

This installment of the story moves very slow and leaves many questions unanswered, which could frustrate the readers, because it sure frustrated me. Cassia does learn a few things about Ky’s past and the truth surrounding the attack on the Society that they do not want citizens to know about. However, there are still many things left unmentioned and favorite characters either don’t appear at all or only for short instances.  The book was not much like Matched, which I finished in a matter of hours. Crossed is a slow book, and I don't recommend it if you want quick page flipping books.  It did not impress me at all, and I did not like it as much.
I RATE THIS BOOK: ★★★☆☆☆(3/6)

My Comments on Tintin *Movie*

I agree with Krazy that this was an excelent movie.  The action was just what I needed end my school day.  I must say that the intro(duction) was a little tooo long for my taste. Over all this was a nail-bitting, action-packed, edge-of-your-seat, movie that I would like to see again sometime.  I couldn't wait for the answer to be reavealed at the end.  I give it the same rating as Krazy (5/6).

Sprinkles

P.S. Just a warning that we will all be reviewing the new movie Mirror Mirror around Friday (4/6/12).

The Adventures of TinTin!! *MOVIE*

I think this was a good movie. I watched this with Sprinkles today, and I had also watched this with my cousin in New Jersey. The movie was interesting and it was an action-packed mystery. I think it deserves a standing ovation, and Herge' (the author of the comic books The adventures of TinTin) is a brilliant mystery writer. Personally, I never read the Sherlock Holmes series, so I don't know how good those are. (Don't Judge me I'm slow at books. I'm reading Twilight now...) But many of my friends that have watched the movie for TinTin and read all of the Sherlock Homes series, have told me TinTin was far better. I really like Pirate adventures so this story caught me instantly. It was that movie where I was on the edge of my seat, biting my nails, anxiously waiting for the revealing answer.
SUMMARY [Secret Of The Unicorn]
TinTin is at the local market and discovers a model ship. He buys it and notices warnings and many people trying to buy it. The ship is named the Unicorn (duh). The moment TinTin got home, he wanted to discover what secrets the Unicorn must hold. He tries to find his magnify Glass, so he can inspect his ship, but Snowy (his white dog) chases around a cat and broke a part of the ship off. A cylindrical tube rolled under the cabinet and Snowy pushes it farther back. As the story continues TinTin gets kidnapped and he is sent to Kariboudjan, and he meets one of the Haddocks, the people who sailed the REAL Unicorn ships. Watch/ Read the story to find out what happens next!
This movie has violence and blood in it. We would not recommend it for kids under the age of 10.

Jabber Jay quotes

"It’s coming from the mouth of a small, crested black bird perched on a branch about ten feet over above my head. And then I understand. It's a jabberjay." ~Catching Fire

«“I heard Prim. Right in the beginning. But it wasn’t her,” he says. “It was a jabberjay."» ~Catching Fire.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid 1 *BOOK*

I read this book 10+ times. This is one of my favorite books of all time. This book keeps you glued to it day & night. It's an easy read but it's worth it.

Summary: Greg Heffley starts middle school roughly. With the cheese, losing is best friend, and being banned from safety patrol it,s pretty harsh. And don't forget (as he would say) all the morons. But he is determined to be the most popular kid in school and get titled to something in the yearbook.

A Tale Dark And Grimm *BOOK*

I really enjoyed reading this book. Adam Gidwitz decided "Hey, let's spice up the world of fairytales with some blood, 'eh?" I think is you hate reading those kissy fairytales that always end in the same way, then read this book! It ends happily, but it has so many twists that you'll be reading this the whole night! In this story, Adam recreates Hansel and Gretel, that sweet story about the kids who get themselves fat and trick an evil cannibal witch. If you like a story in which the girl cuts off ehr middle finger as a key, where their parents cuts off their heads and rubbed the blood all over a statue, and where a man sticks his hands inside of girls and eats their souls and intestines, well then, you'll like this book! P.S. It's a quick read!
I RATE THIS:★★★★★★ (6/6)

Catching Fire *BOOK*

Suzanne Collins is definitely getting popular by the second. Her second Hunger Games book, is amazing!!! I absolutely loved this book, as it is my favorite out of the series. I think this has to be my favorite out of the whole, because of so much action, and romance <3.

 SUMMARY (A REAL spoiler...)
Once Katniss and Peeta won the Hunger Games, they soon after go on their Victory Tour throughout Panem. On their first stop/ District 11, Peeta blows the crowd away with his choice of words. Katniss realizes she didn’t say much and says a little speech at the end. One man in the back of the crowd whistles and the whole crowd gives Katniss the three-finger salute.  imageWhen they’re speeches are over, Katniss stays behind and secretly witnesses the old man being shot in the head. Instantly the rebellion has started. Throughout this story Katniss discovers more about how she has the rebellion on her back, not too much of it though. Suzanne saved that for Mockingjay. Peeta and Katniss (in this story) really show their growing love for each other, and it really is a heart touching book. I personally think that this is the best one to read, even though you have to read the first , first. Oh and another spoiler: Peeta and Katniss Go back in the games for the Quarter Quell!!!!!!!!!! *ssshhh!* I've already told you too much! You'll have to read the book to find out more about it!
I RATE THIS BOOK:★★★★★★(6/6) Duh...
Who Else Can't Wait for the MOVIE to come out??????!! Even though it won't be as awesome as it's supposed to because they JACKED up the first movie...

You have to write your own review not one from some other website! The point of this blog is to make our own reviews so people can see what some normal teens think about books and so some other teens can tell if they want to read the book or watch the movie based on our personal opinions. Plus you cant plagerize which is against the law unless you have permission from that website. COPYING= POST DELETED. Got it!?

The Giver *BOOK*

"The Giver" by Lois Lowry, is about a futuristic Utopian society in which pain is nonexistent. Because pain caused many disastrous events, it was decided that pain, and everything that caused it, would be eliminated. And so anything remotely close to causing pain was wiped from existence: colors were disposed of, and people were all the same in this society. That way, wit no differences, everyone was equal, and there would be nothing to fight about, hence, a perfect society.
One single person in this society is selected to bear the memories of everything, be it pain, joy, anything; and everything that caused it. This was because memories cannot just be thrown away, and so every generation, someone had to bear it. The bearer’s name in this generation was Jonas. But as soon as he begins to receive these memories of pain and joy, he begins to realize that it wasn't a "full" life he was living. Many things had been deleted from people's lives, including color, race, and any sense of personality. This, to Jonas, was unfair. All the people he knew could never experience the joy of colors, of the thrill of riding a sled down a snowy hill! And no one would ever be able to feel this emotion called "love" because separation of partners was required by the utopian laws!
This entire dilemma reached a peak when the Giver (the current bearer of the memories) explained to Jonas why he was there. He explained that colors could delight or anger a person; rather than take that chance of angering someone, society decided to eliminate colors in case the anger led to something else. He explained that Sleds and Snowy Hills were expelled because what if something dangerous were to happen to the passenger, like a broken bone? That would lead to pain, and to anger, and to disaster. That is why this society had deleted anything remotely close to pain, even though many of those things were joyful and fun.
So this gives Jonas a choice. If he were to die, all the memories, joyful or pain filled, would come back to the community. He believes that even though there were many memories of pain, the memories of joy would override those hateful feelings. He could either try to return the memories to the society, or leave it to himself, and letting all the people he knows live an uncompleted life, without emotions, without color, without pain.
In this book, Lois Lowry really breaks down how there cannot ever be a world without pain, and that pain and joy are always going to be interlocked, one way or another. I really encourage you to read this book, and find out for yourself the final conclusions of this story.
I read this in Gifted around fourth grade. I loved the book, but because we were little at the time, our teacher did not read much of the romance in the book. So I really liked this, and the author is GREAT!!!! So here it goes, you ready????
I RATE THIS BOOK: ★★★★★★ (6/6)
~Stay Jabbering!!!!!~ (I just love that... Effie Trinket/Hunger Games...) (lol)

The Scorpio Races *Book*

I enjoy all of the books my sisters have posted about, but here is another:

The Scorpio Races,

Summary: Nineteen-year-old returning champion Sean Kendrick competes against Puck Connolly, the first girl ever to ride in the annual Scorpio Races, both trying to keep hold of their dangerous water horses long enough to make it to the finish line.

AuthorMaggie Stiefvater

Who will like it: If you like horses or understand the deep friendship you can have in a pet then this book is for you. Also, if you like girls who have guts then you will like it.

For more information go to:

I thought this was a good book because it shows girls can do just as well as boys, and you have to live life to the fullest.  This was a great  read that I think should have a sequel.  It kept me reading, and I have already given away my copy to friend!  Puck shows that you can do anything, even if others don't like it.

Now if I could just find out how to rate this thing with stars I would give it a 5/6!

Love it,

Twilight Book Review

Many people love this, but many people hate it based on the movie, but have they ever read the book? NO! My point exactly.

I read this a while ago around October and I fell in love <3 I've read all the books but I'll give you their reviews later.

So anyways... Twilight is a romantic, violent book that will keep you reading until the very end. It feels like you are inside the book witnessing what is happening.

Summary: Bella moves to Forks, Washington with her father Charlie. There she meets the Cullen Clan and falls in love with Edward who she soon finds out is a vampire. She is not scared because Edward tells her that he is a vegetarian vampire because he only drinks animal blood. But then they meet James and his clan who is attracted to Bella's blood and tries to track her so he can kill her......

I rate it: ★★★★★★ (6/6)
